The Vatra Dornei Casino building features neoclassical and Art Nouveau architectural elements, with Murano crystal chandeliers and detailed decorative motifs throughout its structure.
Constructed in 1898 by Austrian architect Peter Paul Brang during the Austro-Hungarian Empire period, the casino attracted visitors from Vienna, Berlin, Budapest, and Italy.
The casino transformed from an entertainment venue to a workers' club after 1945, reflecting the social changes during Romania's communist period.
Following extensive restoration between 2019 and 2023, the building now functions as a museum and cultural center, hosting exhibitions and community events.
Emperor Franz Joseph and Archduke Franz Ferdinand visited this establishment, which originally mirrored the design of the Grand Casino in Baden bei Wien.
