Stanković Musical School, Music school in Vračar district, Belgrade, Serbia
Stanković Musical School is a three-story building with arched windows and decorative reliefs in the Art Nouveau architectural style typical of Belgrade. The school houses specialized classrooms for piano, violin, vocal performance, music theory, and orchestral instruments.
The school was founded in 1911 under King Peter I and began as part of the Singing Association Stanković. It became a state secondary school in 1947.
The school carries the name of Serbian composer Stanković and reflects Belgrade's strong musical tradition. Visitors sense the living atmosphere during lessons and performances that fill the building with sound throughout the day.
The building sits in an accessible part of the Vračar district and can be explored on foot. Concert events and student performances happen regularly at the school and are sometimes open to the public.
Architect Petar Bajalović expanded the original 1890s building in 1914 by adding two additional floors. These new levels were specifically designed to accommodate music education spaces.
