Zavolzhsky District, Ulyanovsk, Administrative district in Ulyanovsk, Russia
Zavolzhsky District is a city district in the northern part of Ulyanovsk, Russia, situated on the left bank of the Volga River. Residential blocks, industrial facilities, and community buildings make up most of the area.
The district was established in January 1935 and its current boundaries were set in May 1962 following an administrative reform. Since then it has grown into one of the main residential and industrial parts of the city.
The district is home to several schools, vocational colleges, and university branches that shape daily life on the north side of the river. Many residents spend a large part of their week at these places, giving the area a strong education-oriented character.
The Presidential Bridge connects the district to the city center on the opposite side of the river. Bus and trolleybus lines serve the area regularly, so most points can be reached without a car.
The district is known for vehicle assembly plants that produce trucks and off-road vehicles for UAZ, a Russian manufacturer with a long history of rugged automotive production. This presence has shaped the working profile of the north bank for decades.
