October Revolution Park, City park in Rostov-on-Don, Russia
October Revolution Park is a 17-hectare green space in Rostov-on-Don featuring walking trails, sports facilities, playgrounds, and an artificial lake where waterfowl, flamingos, and peacocks live in enclosed areas. The site also contains over 20 amusement rides, including a 65-meter observation wheel with 30 climate-controlled cabins offering 12-minute rides.
Founded in 1926 on vacant land between Rostov and Nakhichevan, the site was originally planted with 85 tree species including maples, silver lindens, Polish chestnuts, and Italian ash. Over time it developed into a major recreational destination for the local community.
The park displays a memorial corridor featuring portraits of local citizens honored as Soviet heroes, alongside a visitor section where international guests have planted trees over the years.
The park is designed for easy walking with wide paths and plenty of seating areas to rest between activities. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and come prepared for changing weather depending on the season.
Beyond the main attractions, the site houses an ice rink, rope course, paintball arena, mini-soccer pitch, and chess pavilion that operate year-round. This varied mix of seasonal and all-year activities makes the space a gathering place for different interests and ages.
