Olympic village park, Municipal park in Troparyovo-Nikulino district, Moscow, Russia
Olympic Village Park is a public green space in the Troparyovo-Nikulino district of Moscow, with four artificial ponds linked by pathways and surrounded by trees and open lawns. The park also has a dedicated running track, exercise areas, and a church on its grounds.
The park was laid out in 1978 as Moscow prepared to host the 1980 Summer Olympics, providing green space for athletes living in the adjacent Olympic Village. It grew directly out of the city's rapid expansion during that period.
The Alexander Nevsky Church within the park grounds is a place of worship and visual landmark that draws visitors from different backgrounds who come to spend time in this spiritual space.
The running track doubles as a cross-country skiing trail in winter, so the park rewards a visit at any time of year. The Alexander Nevsky Church on the grounds is open to visitors as well.
The reinforced concrete shores around the four ponds are designed to double as outdoor stages for concerts and community events. The ponds themselves have water fountains that keep the water moving and give the area a distinctive look even on ordinary days.
