Taganrog old lighthouse, Maritime beacon in Taganrog, Russia.
The cylindrical stone structure reached 22 meters in height with one-meter thick walls at its base, featuring rectangular windows along its facade.
Built in 1878 under architect N.A. Arkas supervision, the lighthouse replaced an earlier 1770 structure and operated until its demolition in 1970.
The lighthouse stood near the monument to Peter the Great, marking the connection between Taganrog's maritime heritage and its founding ruler.
The lantern's electric light system, installed in 1909, projected signals visible from 35 to 40 kilometers away, guiding vessels through challenging conditions.
The lighthouse structure included two observation platforms with stone ledges protected by metal lattices and a dome topped with a sphere and weather vane.
