"D" korpusu, Educational building in Taganrog, Russia

The D Building at Southern Federal University in Taganrog is a five-story structure housing lecture halls, laboratories, and administrative spaces for academic work. Internal covered corridors link different sections of the facility, creating a connected pathway system throughout the complex.

Construction of the five-story building began in 1968 on Mayakovsky Square, the former Fish Square, and it opened on 21 April 1969; its lecture block and gym were accepted on 20 May 1970. The site had held School No. 3 and a nautical school for boys that operated from 1930 to 1958, both demolished for the new building. In 1974 a plaque on the facade recorded that the institute had been named after V. D. Kalmykov.

The building's name comes from its letter designation in the Taganrog Radio Engineering Institute. A bronze figurine of a young moose found during construction in 1968 was later adopted as the institute's emblem, designed by Alexander Kislyakov and approved in 1994.

The building sits at 44 Nekrasovsky Lane near Mayakovsky Square and is easy to locate on campus. Inside you will find a winter garden, cafeteria, and banking services for daily needs.

In 1968, earthworks for the building uncovered a cast bronze figurine of a young moose, dated by scholars to the Scythian animal style of the 5th–4th centuries BC. In 1990 the conceptual artist Alexander Kislyakov proposed it as the institute's emblem; the redesign by the Arkhigrad studio was approved in 1994 and patented in 2001.
