Nikolskaya Street 23

Nikolskaya Street 23 is a four-story stone building in Moscow's Tverskoy District that features classical architecture with elaborate window frames and decorative elements. The structure shapes its street corner with detailed stonework and period details visible across its entire facade.

The building grew from older 17th-century structures that were joined with later additions built in the 1790s. During the Soviet period, it served as a place where the Military Court operated between 1935 and 1950.

The building displays a blend of architectural styles from different eras that visitors can observe on its facade. Walking past, one notices how various design elements from different periods sit together in the stonework.

The building sits within walking distance of Lubyanka metro station, making it easy to reach. After its 2021 renovation, the facade presents itself in good condition, which works well for photography and exterior viewing.

Underground passages reportedly connect this building to the former KGB headquarters next door at Lubyanka. These hidden corridors reflect the concealed infrastructure built during Soviet times for security purposes.
