The Ivan Fyodorov Monument in Moscow is a bronze statue near Teatralny Proezd showing a man in historical clothing. The figure holds a printed page in one hand and a typesetting board in the other, standing on a labradorite base that reaches about 6 meters in total height.
Sculptor Sergey Volnukhin and architect Ivan Mashkov created the monument in 1909 to honor an early printer. It was moved several times before finding its final location near Teatralny Proezd.
The monument honors the man who produced the first printed Russian religious book and started a lasting tradition of book making in the country. His name remains alive in Russian culture because he paved the way for other printers and publishers to follow.
The monument is located near Teatralny Proezd in the city center and is easy to reach on foot. The best time to visit is during daylight hours when you can see the details of the bronze figure and pedestal clearly.
