The House with the Lion is a folk art museum housed in an early 20th-century wooden structure with painted walls spanning multiple rooms. The murals depict detailed nature scenes and rural life elements that were carefully created in the years following 1905.

This wooden house dates from the early 20th century and originally belonged to a family from the Old Believers community. The wall paintings were created over a span of about nine years and represent important examples of traditional artistic practices passed down through generations.

The interior walls display traditional Russian folk art paintings showing a lion by a stream, trees filled with birds, and a shepherd with geese. These images tell stories about daily life and nature as the early inhabitants experienced them.

Lodging is available at the adjacent Cultural Center with basic facilities such as a microwave and kettle. It is advisable to arrange your visit in advance to ensure proper access and to coordinate with staff about viewing the rooms.

The longtime caretaker Pyotr Georgievich grew up in this house and can share personal memories and details about the original features that shaped daily life for earlier inhabitants. His stories offer insights into how people actually lived in the space that most visitors would not otherwise discover.
