Васильевское

Vassilevskoje is a 19th century estate in Ruzsky District consisting of multiple buildings arranged across the property. The ensemble includes a two-story main house, worker dwellings, office spaces, stables with tall chimneys, a church, towers, and remaining park areas on either side of the Moscow River.

The estate was built in the late 1800s by architect F.O. Shekhtel for P.P. von Derwies, whose father had developed the Moscow-Ryazan railway line. This railway wealth funded the construction of this large rural property with modern architectural design.

The estate tells the story of rural life through its working buildings and layout. These structures show how a wealthy family once organized agriculture, animal care, and daily operations across the property.

The property spreads across both sides of the Moscow River with paths and tree-lined passages to explore. Wear sturdy shoes as some areas are unpaved, and note that you can view the buildings from outside on foot.

The stable complex stands out for its unusual architecture with a central risalit and four tall chimneys rising from the roof. The side wings feature gabled roofs with hipped ends, creating a distinctive silhouette across the landscape.
