Kubinka Tank Museum, Military museum in Kubinka, Russia
The Kubinka Tank Museum is a military museum in Kubinka, Moscow Oblast, Russia, displaying over 350 armored vehicles and fighting machines from fourteen countries. Six large pavilions organize the collection by origin and type, while an outdoor area presents additional exhibits in the open air.
The museum began as a collection point for armored vehicles in 1938, but officially opened its doors to the general public in September 1972.
The museum serves as a center for technical research, preservation of military heritage, and international cooperation through regular exchanges with institutions in Germany, France, and Britain.
Located 63 kilometers from Moscow, the museum operates guided tours in multiple languages and features both indoor exhibition halls and outdoor display areas.
Among the exhibits stands the Panzer VIII Maus, the heaviest fighting vehicle ever built, weighing more than 180 tons (163 metric tons). Beside it sits the Karl-Gerät self-propelled siege mortar, a weapon with a 600 millimeter (24 inch) caliber used during the Second World War.
