Дубровицы

Dubrovitsy is an archaeological site near the Znamenskaya Church, spread across three separate areas. The excavations reveal cultural layers reaching depths of 90 centimeters, containing artifacts from multiple periods of habitation.

The settlement was inhabited from the Early Iron Age through the Ancient Russian period, as revealed by excavations in 1991. Research led by M.I. Gonyanyi demonstrated that people lived and worked at this location across many centuries.

The settlement shows traces of three different cultures, visible in the distinct pottery styles and tools left behind. Walking through the site, you can sense how different peoples lived and worked here across different periods.

The site is a protected archaeological location where visitors should stay on marked paths and avoid disturbing any artifacts or layers. Respect for the remains and careful observation are essential when walking through the area.

Near the southwestern edge of Dubrovitsy Park, researchers discovered burial mounds dating from the 11th to 13th centuries that remain intact today. These burial grounds reveal that the area served not only as a settlement but also as a cemetery for local communities.
