Podolsk Urban Okrug, human settlement in Russia
Podolsk Urban Okrug is an administrative division in Moscow Oblast, about 40 kilometers south of Moscow. It contains the city of Podolsk and about 75 rural villages and settlements spread across an area of roughly 339 square kilometers.
The area was established as Podolsky District in 1929 and was a mix of rural and small town settlements for many decades. In 2015, the district was officially abolished and its territory became the current Podolsk Urban Okrug.
The name Podolsk comes from the Pakhra River that flows through the area. Local residents keep Russian traditions alive through festivals and markets where handmade goods and fresh produce are sold in the streets.
The area is accessible by trains and buses that connect it to Moscow and nearby towns. Visitors can walk through streets or use parks and open spaces for relaxing and exploring the region on foot.
The okrug includes long-established rural villages and settlements with old farmhouses and working farms that date back generations. This blend of city and countryside allows visitors to experience everyday Russian life away from the capital while remaining connected to it.
