Villa Gransäter, Summer villa in Gustavsberg, Sweden

Villa Gransäter is a summer residence perched on a steep slope in Gustavsberg with views over Farstaviken bay in the Stockholm archipelago. The building displays multiple architectural styles with bay windows and several additions that shape its overall form.

Architect Agi Lindegren designed and built this house in 1887 for John Böttiger, a court official. The construction blended contemporary building elements that reflected Lindegren's interest in varied architectural approaches.

The interior shows timber paneling and mixed materials that reflect late 19th-century Nordic architecture and craftsmanship. These details offer a window into how people of that era lived and valued their homes.

The property sits on a steep hillside with commanding views over the water. Visitors should expect uneven terrain and be prepared for walking on sloped ground throughout the site.

The numerous bay windows and extensions of the house inspired Lindegren's later design work on another well-known building on Djurgården. This design approach became characteristic of his personal style and appeared in his subsequent projects.
