Villa Norrköping is a residential building organized in a cross-shaped plan with a central core housing kitchen, bathrooms, and service functions. The structure features brick walls interrupted by generous glazed corners that flood the interior with natural light.
A Norwegian architect designed this building in 1964 as an entry for an international architectural competition held in Sweden. The structure resulted from this design challenge that encouraged innovative ideas in residential construction.
The design shows a preference for clean lines and balanced proportions that visitors notice immediately when entering. Rooms follow a logical arrangement that shapes how people move through and use the spaces.
The interior distributes across nine adaptable rooms arranged around a central area where bathrooms and kitchen are located. A raised roof brings daylight throughout the building and makes it easy to navigate the space.
The building stands independently on its plot, following its own architectural logic rather than adapting to its surroundings. This self-contained approach makes it a distinct object that separates itself from what surrounds it.
