Örgryte Old Church

Örgryte Old Church is a stone structure with Romanesque architecture and a square form, incorporating defensive elements into its traditional design. The building at Danska vägen continues to serve as an active place for worship and community gatherings.

The church was built in the mid-13th century as an early stone structure in the region. Major renovation work between 1730 and 1735 replaced the medieval choir section with updated architectural features that reflect the period's style.

Inside, painted ceiling frescoes from the 1700s show the style of Swedish church decoration from that era. These artworks shape how the space looks and feels for visitors today.
