Apotekarnes vattenfabrik, Former water factory in Gårda, Sweden
Apotekarnes vattenfabrik is a four-story industrial building with basement in the Gårda district, notable for its distinctive water tower positioned along Åvägen. The structure was specifically designed for beverage production with integrated storage areas throughout the building.
Built between 1935 and 1936 by architect Folke Bensow, the factory operated until 1974 producing mineral water and soft drinks like Solo and Vichyvatten. After industrial operations ceased, the building transitioned to cultural use starting in 1982.
The building served as home to the Gothenburg Industrial History Museum from 1982 to 1994, followed by the Gothenburg Ethnographic Museum until 2000.
The building now operates as Brewhouse, housing workspaces for music, film, and media production companies. The facility can host concerts and conferences for visitors and creative professionals.
Water for production came directly from the Kallebäcks spring through a dedicated pipeline system. The supply was stored in a large cistern housed within the tower structure itself.
