Helsingborg new water tower, Water tower in Filborna, Helsingborg, Sweden
The new water tower in Filborna is a contemporary structure with a large circular tank mounted on slender concrete supports. It supplies drinking water to homes and businesses across northwest Skåne.
The project emerged between 2018 and completion through collaboration between a construction company and the local water authority. It functionally replaces an older tower from the 1960s, which remains standing alongside it.
The structure was recognized for its bold architectural design that contributes distinctly to the town's visual identity. People in the area see it as a landmark that shapes how they experience the landscape around them.
The location is accessible from several viewpoints around the site, where the modern design can be appreciated from different angles. The tower is open to view from the outside, making it easy to examine the structure and take photographs.
The 24 supporting pillars are positioned to cast shadows that mark the time like a massive sundial on the ground. Inside the tank, dance performances and theater shows happen regularly, transforming the tower into more than just infrastructure.
