Philipshuset, Tegeluddsvägen

Philipshuset is a high-rise office building in Gärdet with 13 floors of office space and a lower warehouse section extending four floors. The structure uses steel columns and prefabricated concrete walls to create flexible interior layouts with movable partition walls.

The building was completed in 1963 as the headquarters for Svenska Philips, designed by architect Bo Möller. Its construction marked an important moment in the development of modern office architecture in Scandinavia during the 1960s.

The building hosted Sweden's first color television broadcast during a fashion show in 1965, marking a pivotal moment in the country's broadcasting history. This event showed how modern workplaces could serve as venues for technological innovation and cultural milestones.

The building is easily visible from the street and located in a business district with good access. Bear in mind this is an active office building, so interior access may be limited depending on current use.

The building houses Paternoster elevators, a continuous loop of open compartments that move slowly through the structure. This technical feature from the early 1960s remains a fascinating detail for those interested in building engineering.
