Stockholm Transport Museum, Transport museum in Norra Djurgårdsstaden, Stockholm, Sweden

The Stockholm Transport Museum is a transport museum housed in a large former industrial building at Gasverket, in the Norra Djurgårdsstaden district of Stockholm. It displays trams, buses, and metro cars spanning over a century of the city's public transit history, alongside photographs, uniforms, and archival objects.

The museum was founded in 1933, which makes it one of the oldest transport museums in the world. In 2022 it moved to Gasverket, a former gasworks, giving the collection a much larger home in a building with its own industrial past.

The museum is in Norra Djurgårdsstaden, a recently developed district that is easy to reach by public transport from central Stockholm. Inside, signs are in both Swedish and English, and there is a café for a break during your visit.

One of the most talked-about stories connected to the collection is that of the Silverpilen, or Silver Arrow, a metro train from the 1960s with a bare aluminum body. Stockholm residents spread rumors that it only ran at night and stopped at an abandoned station, giving rise to one of the city's most enduring ghost stories.
