Bedok Lighthouse, Maritime beacon in Southeast Singapore.
Bedok Lighthouse is a 76-meter tall navigation structure mounted on a residential building along Marine Parade Road. It flashes white light every five seconds to guide ships through the eastern shipping lanes near Singapore.
This facility started operations in 1978 as Singapore's first automated and unmanned lighthouse. It replaced an earlier navigation beacon that had served the region from a different location.
The structure represents Singapore's adaptation of maritime infrastructure within residential areas, demonstrating the integration of navigation aids into urban development.
The structure is accessed through the Lagoon View condominium building, though the lighthouse itself is not open to the public. The best views are from the surrounding streets and nearby shorelines where the beam is clearly visible at night.
Access is gained through a grey door at ground level of the residential building, making this navigation point blend quietly into the urban landscape. It is one of only six active lighthouses serving the island nation.
