Myndos Gate, Ancient gate in Bodrum, Turkey.
The Myndos Gate features two massive stone towers connected by thick walls, with a deep moat stretching 56 meters in length at its base.
Built in the 4th century BC under King Mausolos, this gate withstood a notable siege by Alexander the Great in 334 BC during his military campaign.
The gate remains an integral part of Turkey's archaeological heritage, representing the sophisticated defensive architecture of ancient Halicarnassus.
Located 8 kilometers from central Bodrum, the site offers free entry and requires approximately one hour to explore the towers and surrounding fortifications.
Twin vaulted graves discovered near the gate include a two-story structure, providing evidence of ancient burial practices in the region.
