Description
The Bergama Acropolis Gondola is a modern aerial cable car that spans nearly 700 meters to connect the city with the ancient hilltop site. The system uses passenger cabins to carry visitors from the lower town up to the archaeological area in a short ride.
History
The gondola opened in 2010 and replaced an older bus route that carried people up to the ancient Acropolis of Pergamon. It made visiting this historic site much faster and easier for both tourists and local residents.
Culture
The gondola connects visitors to the Acropolis of Pergamon, home to ancient temples and theaters that shaped Greek culture. From above, travelers see both the archaeological ruins and the modern city spreading below.
Practical
The ride takes just a few minutes and requires no special skills or preparation. Visitors simply board the cabin and travel upward to the ancient site, avoiding the steep walking route that was necessary before.
