Konya Archaeological Museum

The Konya Archaeological Museum displays objects from different periods of this region, ranging from very old settlements to the Byzantine era. The exhibition halls follow a chronological order and show how civilization developed here across thousands of years.

The museum was founded in the early 20th century and moved several times before settling in its current building in 1962. The long journey of the collection reflects growing interest in preserving local history.

The collection includes inscriptions in different languages that reflect trade and contact between communities who lived here. These writings show how people in this region communicated across different groups.

The collection is organized in different exhibition areas that make it easy for visitors to navigate by time period and theme. It is advisable to allow enough time to explore all the halls and examine the many details on display.

A marble sarcophagus from the 3rd century displays detailed relief carvings depicting scenes from the life of Hercules. This work stands as one of the most notable examples of craftsmanship and artistic skill from that era.
