Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden

The Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden is a butterfly house with a spacious flight area where numerous butterfly species live under tropical conditions. The interior space is filled with dense vegetation and specially cultivated plants that replicate the natural habitat these insects need to thrive.

The butterfly house opened in 2015 as the first facility of its kind in Turkey. It was established by the Selçuklu Municipality and marked the beginning of dedicated interest in insect conservation and environmental education in the region.

The place serves as a learning space where visitors come to observe tropical butterflies in flight and understand their ecosystems. It functions as an educational hub where people of all ages experience how these insects live and move in a controlled tropical setting.

The facility maintains warm and humid conditions year-round so the butterflies remain active and healthy. Visitors should expect warm, moist air throughout the year regardless of the season outside.

The building features an unusual curved shell design that was engineered to resist earthquakes while protecting the interior ecosystem. This structural approach demonstrates how modern architecture can balance safety with creating habitats for living creatures.
