The butterfly-shaped building contains a 1,200-square-meter flight area with 45 butterfly species and 20,000 tropical plants from 150 different varieties.
The Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden opened in July 2015 as Turkey's first butterfly sanctuary, created by the Municipality of Selçuklu.
The facility includes a Butterfly Museum, Insect Museum, and Nature Education Class for scientific activities about fungi, birds, and insects.
The garden maintains a constant temperature of 26 degrees Celsius with 80 percent humidity to support tropical butterflies throughout all seasons.
The structure features a double-curved lattice steel shell with reinforced concrete walls, designed to withstand seismic activity while supporting butterfly habitats.
