Aziziye Mosque

The Aziziye Mosque features two minarets with columned balconies, a square prayer hall topped by a central dome, and three smaller domes above the narthex.

After a fire destroyed the original 1671 structure, Pertevniyal, mother of Sultan Abdülaziz, commissioned the reconstruction of the mosque in 1874.

The mosque combines Ottoman and Baroque architectural elements, incorporating marble pillars, bluish marble mihrab, and windows that exceed the doors in size.

Visitors need to remove shoes, cover their heads, wear full-sleeved clothing, and avoid photography without permission when entering the mosque.

The mosque stands elevated from ground level, requiring visitors to climb stairs to access the main prayer hall, distinguishing it from typical mosque layouts.
