Lake Beyşehir National Park

Lake Beyşehir National Park, Nature reserve with freshwater lake in Konya Province, Turkey.

Lake Beyşehir National Park is a protected area in central Turkey featuring the country's largest freshwater lake surrounded by mountain ranges. The reserve covers approximately 87,000 hectares with woodlands, wetlands, and meadows spread across islands and mainland shores.

The area was known in ancient times as Carallis and contains archaeological remains from different periods. A notable monument is Eflatun Pınar, a stone pool from the Hittite period with carved reliefs on its walls.

Local communities around the lake keep traditional ways of life alive and sell handmade products like mountain herbs, cheese, and butter from village producers.

The area is easily reached via State Highway D.350, and the nearby town of Beyşehir offers lodging and services. Exploration is possible on foot or by car, with warm dry summers and wetter winters affecting visit timing and what to bring.

The protected area harbors 153 bird species, including rare migrant and raptor species that can be observed regularly. This biodiversity makes it a notable destination for those interested in watching birds throughout the year.
