Yazılı Canyon Nature Park

Yazılı Canyon is a nature park featuring a forested gorge carved through steep limestone cliffs with a river running through the deep valley. The park covers a large protected area in southwestern Turkey with pathways that allow visitors to explore the natural formations.

The site served as a natural boundary between two ancient regions during classical times. Turkey formally designated this area as a protected nature park in 1989, recognizing its environmental and historical importance.

Ancient Greek inscriptions are carved into the canyon walls, including philosophical texts from the classical period. These markings reveal how this landscape once sat at the intersection of different civilizations and their ideas.

Walking paths guide you upstream through the canyon, with the main trail stretching about 3 kilometers past multiple viewpoints. A riverside restaurant offers refreshments, especially during warmer seasons when water levels and weather make hiking most comfortable.

The canyon forms a natural boundary between what were once two distinct ancient lands, with the Lake District on one side and the Antalya region on the other. This geographical position made the location a meeting point where different peoples and trade networks naturally converged.
