Lake Kovada National Park, National park in Isparta Province, Turkey
Lake Kovada National Park covers 6,534 hectares and features a shallow lake with green waters surrounded by dense pine forests and limestone rock formations. The landscape combines water, woodland, and stone in a way that creates a continuous ecosystem across the protected area.
The Turkish government established the park in 1970, then upgraded its protection status to the highest level in 1992. This progression shows how conservation efforts expanded across Turkey during the latter part of the 20th century.
The park sits within a network of three connected lakes that reflects how local communities view water and forests as interconnected resources. Walking through the area, you notice how the landscape shapes daily life and recreation for people in the surrounding villages.
Access to the park comes via a 23-kilometer road that branches off the main Isparta-Eğirdir-Konya route. Multiple walking paths lead from the entry point to different observation areas where you can see the full landscape.
The lake water contains sediments that create its distinctive green color and limit underwater visibility to around 1.5 meters. These specific conditions support freshwater lobsters and fish species that thrive in few other places.
