İnsuyu Cave, Show cave in Burdur, Turkey.
İnsuyu Cave is a limestone cavern near Burdur with two main galleries and water pools distributed along accessible walking paths of about 600 meters. The cave contains several underground lakes and damp stone formations shaped by flowing water.
The cave was discovered in 1952 and opened to visitors in 1965 as Turkey's first show cave, marking a turning point in local cave tourism. This opening paved the way for developing other caves in the region for public access.
The name reflects ancient inhabitants of the region, and visitors today walk through passages that show how water has shaped the rock over time. The play of light in the darkness reveals patterns that people have observed for generations.
The cave can be found easily by following brown directional signs on the D650 highway, about 12 kilometers south of Burdur's center. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for damp, slippery surfaces inside the passages.
The cave holds nine underground pools, with the largest covering roughly 500 square meters and forming an impressive water body in the darkness. This major pool demonstrates how water has carved out these limestone spaces over thousands of years.
