Gulluk Mountain Termessos National Park, National park with ancient ruins near Antalya, Türkiye
Gulluk Mountain Termessos National Park is a mountain area with ancient ruins located near Antalya. The site spans deep valleys, canyons, and plateaus covered with red pine forests and Mediterranean vegetation at approximately 1150 meters (3770 feet) in elevation.
The ancient city was established by the Solim people on the mountain slopes and was never conquered due to its strategic position. Its nearly impregnable location protected it from invasion by numerous would-be conquerors.
The site takes its name from the mountain on which it rises and displays Roman structures including towers, walls, and a theater that show visitors how people lived in ancient times. The decorated tombs reveal the stories of inhabitants who wanted to leave their mark on this landscape.
The park features designated camping areas, hiking trails of varying difficulty, and a visitor center at the entrance with detailed information. Plan your time based on the trails you wish to explore, as they range from easy walks to more demanding hikes through the terrain.
The protected area is home to 680 plant species, with 39 endemic varieties found only in this region and two species living nowhere else on earth but within the park's boundaries. This botanical richness makes the location noteworthy for those interested in seeing rare plants.
