Murat Paşa Mosque

Murat Paşa Mosque, Ottoman mosque in Muratpaşa, Turkey.

The Murat Paşa Mosque is a granite structure featuring a tall central dome supported by a ten-sided frame, with three additional domes positioned above pointed arches. The prayer hall displays a well-planned layout combining various architectural elements.

Construction of the Murat Paşa Mosque was completed in 1570 under Murat Pasha of Karaman and reflects Ottoman architectural traditions of that period. The project emerged during an era of significant building activity in the region under Ottoman rule.

The walls inside display Turkish-Seljuk calligraphy, and the marble pulpit and altar feature carved patterns that reflect Ottoman decorative traditions.

The structure sits in a central location and is easily reached on foot, with certain conduct rules and dress codes expected upon entry. Visitors should be aware of local customs and show respect when visiting this sacred space.

The building employs colored stone arches paired with four round columns, a feature rarely seen in regional religious buildings. This architectural detail sets it apart visually from similar structures in the surrounding area.
