Tekeli Mehmet Paşa Mosque

The Tekeli Mehmet Paşa Mosque is an Ottoman-era house of worship with a central dome supported by three semi-domes. Multiple smaller domes crown the northern section of the structure, giving it its distinctive silhouette.

The building was constructed in the 17th century during the Ottoman Empire and takes its name from Lala Mehmed Paşa, an influential figure of that era. This period marked a time of prosperity and cultural development in Antalya.

The walls inside display Koranic verses written in taliq script, and colored glass windows cast geometric patterns across the prayer hall. These windows create a soft play of light that shapes how people experience the space during prayer.

The building opens to visitors outside the five daily prayer times, allowing exploration of its architectural features. When visiting the interior, it is best to plan around these prayer schedules and dress respectfully for the sacred space.

The pointed arch windows on the northern facade hold specialized tile panels that blend religious text with decorative elements. This fusion shows how craftspeople of that time wove beauty and faith together in a single detail.
