Hengchun Township, Urban township in Pingtung County, Taiwan
Hengchun Township spans 136 square kilometers at the southern tip of Taiwan, containing seventeen villages and numerous neighborhoods across varied terrains and coastlines.
The area, formerly known as Longkiau during Dutch colonization, received its current name from Qing viceroy Shen Baozhen in 1875, meaning Eternal Spring.
The township preserves traditions of Rukai and Paiwan indigenous tribes through local festivals, traditional crafts, and community gatherings throughout the year.
Visitors can reach Hengchun by taking the Taiwan High-Speed Rail to Zuoying Station, followed by the Kenting Express Line 9189 bus to Hengchun Station.
Four ancient city gates remain standing from the original Qing dynasty fortifications, marking the only complete set of such structures in southern Taiwan.
