Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation, Chiayi Branch

The Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation Chiayi Branch is a large administrative complex in an industrial park with modern storage systems and a museum area. The site includes buildings for management, storage, and education that together form a complete operating center.

The site began in 1916 as a brewery under Japanese management and was damaged by bombing during World War II. After the war, it was rebuilt and grew into a major production center for traditional spirits.

The liquor museum inside displays traditional brewing tools and methods passed down through generations of production. You can see how local craftsmanship shaped the way alcohol was made in this region.

The grounds are spacious and easy to walk through, with clear separation between production, storage, and museum areas. Most visitors can find their way easily since the sections are logically organized.

The first batch of a traditional sorghum-based spirit was developed here, with the original vessels still on display in the museum. This drink became a signature product of the region and continues to be made using historical methods.
