Chiayi Cultural and Creative Industries Park, Cultural center in West District, Chiayi City, Taiwan.
The Chiayi Cultural and Creative Industries Park is a cultural center in the West District of Chiayi, built on the grounds of a former distillery. More than 20 original industrial buildings now house exhibition spaces, artist studios, and venues for art and design events.
The site was established in 1916 as a distillery under Japanese colonial rule and operated as a production facility for several decades. After falling into disuse, it was redeveloped into a cultural park following earthquake damage in the early 2000s.
The park holds working studios where local artists and designers can be seen during their daily routines. Some of the old industrial buildings now serve as open workshop spaces, making the creative process visible to anyone walking through.
The park sits right next to Chiayi's main train station, making it easy to reach on foot. The paths across the grounds are flat and straightforward, so exploring the area between the buildings requires no special preparation.
Some of the buildings on the site have been listed as protected heritage structures, which means their outer appearance has not changed since the distillery was in operation. Walking through the park, it is still possible to read the layout of the old production complex in the arrangement of the buildings.
