Chiayi Cultural and Creative Industries Park, Cultural center in West District, Chiayi City, Taiwan.
The Chiayi Cultural and Creative Industries Park is a cultural center built on the grounds of a former distillery complex, with over 20 buildings housing artistic activities. The site spans several hectares adjacent to the main train station and combines original industrial structures with modern exhibition spaces.
The grounds were originally a distillery works established in 1916 under Japanese administration, functioning as a production facility through the mid-20th century. Following major earthquake damage in the early 2000s, the area was redeveloped into a cultural park to support artists and creative enterprises.
The park hosts working artist studios and creative workshops where visitors can see local creators in action. Multiple spaces function as gallery areas and performance venues for contemporary art and craft activities.
The site is open daily to visitors and has direct pedestrian access from the main train station, where both regular trains and high-speed rail services arrive. Most pathways are flat and easy to explore on foot, with plenty of rest areas scattered between the buildings.
The grounds once housed one of Taiwan's first liquor distilleries, and some of the original brewery facades have been preserved as protected heritage structures. Visitors can still trace the outline of the old production facility within the modern park layout.
