Heralds' Museum, Heraldry museum in Tower of London, England
The Heralds' Museum was a collection of coats of arms, ceremonial regalia, and historical documents housed in the Waterloo Barracks inside the Tower of London. The exhibition displayed materials from the College of Arms collection.
Sir Anthony Wagner, who served as Garter Principal King of Arms, started the museum in the 1980s to display the College of Arms collection. The project aimed to make this important heraldic institution accessible to the public.
The museum displayed items connected to English heraldic traditions, including official records, emblems, and symbols representing families and institutions across British history. Visitors could see how these visual markers were used to show social rank and family connections.
Admission to the museum was included with entry to the Tower of London. The museum operated only during summer months and is no longer open to visitors following changes to the Tower's organization.
The museum was curated by Peter Spurrier and directed by John Brooke-Little before it closed following organizational changes at the Royal Palaces. Though the collection remains, it is no longer presented to the public in this dedicated format.
