Jubilee Gardens, Urban park in South Bank, London, United Kingdom
Jubilee Gardens is a landscaped park along the Thames near the London Eye. The space features mature trees, open lawns, undulating hills, and pathways that connect different sections of the grounds.
The park began in 1977 as part of Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee celebrations on the site of the former Festival of Britain. It was redesigned by Dutch landscape architects before the 2012 Olympics.
The International Brigades memorial within the park honors foreign volunteers who fought in the Spanish Civil War. Visitors walking through can discover this sculpture and learn about their story.
The park is freely accessible throughout the day with multiple wheelchair-friendly entrances. Benches, drinking fountains, and a children's playground make it suitable for families and people of all ages.
The grounds were redesigned by Dutch architects West 8 with artificial hills that transformed the flat landscape. These slopes create different levels and viewpoints that make exploring the space more engaging.
