Grand Pier, Grade II listed pier in Weston-super-Mare, England
Grand Pier is a 366-meter seaside structure in the Bristol Channel in Weston-super-Mare, England. The construction carries a glazed building at the end, which holds a go-kart track, arcade machines, and a zone with theme park rides.
The structure opened in 1904 and held a theatre with seating for 2,000 at the time. Fires in 1930 and 2008 led to reconstruction, which finished in 2010.
The pier sells fish and chips at the kiosk, while families spend time at arcade machines and the go-kart track. Children climb into carousels or try their luck at claw machines, an offer that recalls British coastal towns in the first half of the 20th century.
The building opens daily except on Christmas Day, and five restaurants serve food in British coastal tradition. Wristbands for unlimited rides are offered on weekends and during school holidays.
Inside runs a two-level go-kart track that stretches 300 meters in length. Visitors can race in any weather since the entire system sits under a roof.
