Armadale Stadium, race track in Scotland
Armadale Stadium is a motorsport racing track in West Lothian, Scotland, located on Bathgate Road. The facility features an oval track with both open and covered seating areas, bars, and food stands for visitors interested in watching speedway racing.
The site was originally coal mining land next to Hopetown Colliery before a greyhound racing track opened in 1939. Since 1997 it has hosted the Edinburgh Monarchs speedway team, while greyhound racing ended permanently in 2016.
The stadium takes its name from the town of Armadale in West Lothian. Today it is primarily known as the home of the Edinburgh Monarchs speedway team, which races here regularly in front of fans and shapes the local motorsport culture.
Visitors should arrive in the early evening for race events, as gates typically open around 6:30 pm and racing begins around 7:30 pm. There are various seating options and food and drink facilities available on site.
The start and finish lines are positioned unusually, with the start line intentionally placed behind the finish line. This distinctive arrangement was adjusted in 2013 to give riders better conditions and more opportunities to pass each other.
