Broomhall Castle, Country house in Menstrie, Scotland
Broomhall Castle stands on a hillside with three floors and a square tower, overlooking the village of Menstrie in Clackmannanshire.
Built in 1874 for mill owner James Johnstone, the mansion changed functions from an Italian Riding School to a preparatory school before a 1940 fire left it in ruins.
The property grounds contain two Redwood Sequoiadendron trees, which represent an uncommon botanical specimen in the British landscape.
Following renovation in 2023, the castle operates as a hotel with 17 rooms, offering accommodation and dining services near the Ochil Hills.
Local speculation persists about the 1940 fire circumstances, when all students were camping outside during the incident that destroyed the building.
