Carpenter's Road Lock, Navigation lock in Olympic Park, London, England

Carpenter's Road Lock contains a pair of rising radial gates situated at each end, connecting the Bow Back Rivers with the River Thames waterway system.

The lock was constructed in 1933 as part of the River Lee Flood Relief Act 1930 to address flooding concerns in the surrounding waterways.

The lock forms part of the legacy from the 2012 London Olympics, representing the transformation of East London's industrial waterways into recreational spaces.

Canal boats can access the lock during regular operating hours through the Canal & River Trust, which manages water levels and navigation schedules.

The structure stands as Britain's only lock featuring rising radial gates at both ends, making it an engineering milestone in British canal architecture.
