Cogglesford Mill

Cogglesford Mill is a three-story watermill in Sleaford with a low breast shot water wheel and two sets of millstones for grain processing. The structure displays typical features of mills that processed grain using historical methods.

The current structure dates to the 18th century, though records suggest mills existed here since Saxon times. The site demonstrates a long history of grain processing spanning multiple centuries.

The mill demonstrates traditional milling methods that visitors can observe in action. The techniques and work patterns reflect how such facilities operated across England generations ago.

The mill is open Friday through Monday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and visitors should expect conditions suited to an older structure. Special demonstrations occur on certain dates and offer insight into the work involved.

This is the only remaining Sheriff's mill in England still producing flour using stoneground techniques and original machinery. Its status as a sole surviving working mill makes it a rare example of craft continuity.
