Manor House, Historical residence in Sleaford, England
The Manor House on Northgate is a stone complex with connected structures, a cobbled courtyard, and a small tower on its western side. The building layers medieval foundations with Georgian and Gothic-Revival additions from later periods.
Parts of the Manor House date to the 16th century and incorporate medieval masonry from the 14th century. Later renovations in the 18th and 19th centuries added Georgian and Gothic-Revival style elements.
Cecil and Frank Rhodes spent their childhood summers at the estate, which belonged to their aunt Sophia Peacock during the nineteenth century.
The building underwent renovation in 2015 and now houses shops and residential units that visitors can explore from the outside. The courtyard serves as a natural gathering point when examining the connected sections from the street.
The building received Grade II* listing status in 1949, marking its special architectural and historical importance. This higher classification is given to fewer buildings and reflects expert recognition of its structural merit.
