Marloes Sands, Sandy beach in Pembrokeshire, United Kingdom
Marloes Sands is a sandy beach extending roughly 1 mile along the Pembrokeshire coast, with golden sand backed by tall cliffs that run the full length of the shore. Rock formations scattered throughout create several smaller coves and add visual interest to the landscape.
This shore contains remains of the paddle steamer Albion, which wrecked in 1837 while transporting pigs and whiskey to Ireland. The wreck provides a tangible link to 19th-century maritime trade and the dangers ships faced along this rocky coast.
The location served as a filming site for the 2011 movie Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart.
The nearest National Trust car park is about half a mile from the beach and offers toilet facilities and a cafe at Runwayskiln nearby. Plan your visit for low tide to access more of the sand and explore the rock formations more easily.
At low tide, visitors can walk across exposed rock formations to reach Albion Sands, a separate beach near Gateholm Island that is cut off at high tide. This hidden route reveals additional coastal areas that many people miss during their visit.
