St. Ann's Head Lighthouse, Coastal lighthouse in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
St. Ann's Head Lighthouse is a stone tower at the southwestern tip of Wales that marks the entrance to Milford Haven. The white structure sits on a rocky headland and can be seen from far across the water.
An earlier light station stood here from 1712, but was replaced in 1841 by the stone tower that exists today. This structure has guided ships through the dangerous waters off the Welsh coast ever since.
The five former lighthouse keeper cottages near the structure represent the evolution of maritime navigation from manual operation to modern automation.
The site is reachable by boat or on foot via coastal paths, offering views across the water and shoreline. The area can be windy and exposed, so suitable clothing is advisable.
The complex became automated in 1998 and parts now serve as holiday rentals with sea views. The site also includes a helipad and a former fog horn building that still play a role in modern navigation systems.
