One Angel Square, Office building in NOMA, Manchester, England
One Angel Square is a 14-story office building in northern Manchester. Its double-skin facade system allows natural light to flood the spaces while maintaining controlled ventilation throughout.
Construction began in 2010 as part of a major development project in the Angel Meadows district by the Co-operative Group. The building opened officially in 2013.
Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh conducted the official opening ceremony of One Angel Square on November 15, 2013.
The building sits next to Manchester Victoria Station and the Shudehill Transport Interchange for easy access to public transport. Parking facilities are available within a short walk.
The building generates its own energy through a rapeseed oil-powered cogeneration system and actually feeds surplus power back to the grid. This makes it an energy-plus building that produces more than it consumes.
