Singleton Abbey, Grade II listed manor house in Sketty, Wales
Singleton Abbey stands as a 19th-century mansion with neo-Gothic architectural elements, featuring an octagonal plan and substantial stone walls at Swansea University.
The initial structure, built in 1784 by customs official Edward King, was later purchased by industrialist John Henry Vivian who commissioned extensive renovations in 1823.
The mansion includes preserved Italian gardens and formal landscapes designed by architect P.F. Robinson, representing the architectural preferences of Welsh industrial families.
The building currently serves as administrative offices for Swansea University, with several rooms maintaining their original 18th-century design elements.
The structure retains the original back stairs and ground-floor layout from 1784, despite numerous modifications throughout its transformation from private residence to educational facility.
