South Gloucestershire and Stroud College, college in South Gloucestershire, UK
South Gloucestershire and Stroud College is a further education college with campuses spread across Bristol and the surrounding area. The WISE campus in north Bristol includes a theatre and performance studios, the Stroud campus focuses on art and design, and Berkeley Green operates within a technology park.
The college was formed in 2012 through the merger of two separate institutions that had each built their own identity over many decades. The Berkeley Green site had a particularly different past, having previously served as a nuclear research laboratory before becoming a technology and learning centre.
The Olympus Theatre on the WISE campus hosts regular performances where students take the stage or work behind the scenes. These shows are often open to the public, giving visitors a direct look at what students are creating.
Each campus is served by local bus routes, making it possible to reach most sites without a car. Since each location focuses on different subject areas, it is worth checking in advance which campus is relevant to the course or facility you want to see.
Students on the Zoological Management course work directly at the Bristol Zoo Project site, where their daily studies take place alongside wolves, giraffes and other animals. This kind of training inside a working zoo is rare among further education colleges in the UK.
